Fun in St Thomas!

Ev loves the sand...raking, scooping, building and knocking down. However, he doesn't like the ocean. Maybe we will hit the pool later? I'm not sure if there will be time :-)

Aunt Katie will be so proud...

Evan made his debut visit to the dentist this week. He doesn't do all that well at the doctor's office, so I wasn't very optimistic. We did a bit of role playing last week to prepare, and can you believe the visit was a smashing success?!

I wish the pediatrician's office was as cool as the dentist! I knew it was going to go well as soon as we walked in and there was a fish tank, TVs, and some gaming stations for the older kids in the waiting room. Evan loves fish, so it was a huge hit!

When we were called back the hygienist immediately gave him the choice of a Cars or Transformers toothbrush (he chose Transformers) and a monkey stuffed animal. The kid is a sucker for presents! There were TVs on the ceiling, so he gladly laid back and opened wide so she could "count his teeth." She was able to brush and floss without a whimper.

Dr. King stopped by after the cleaning to take a peek. His eyes welled up a little, but he cooperated and opened wide for Dr. King to find Mickey Mouse and Chuggington in his mouth.

Overall, the visit was a success. They even took his picture to document his first visit :-) Then they gave him another treat bag with floss, toothpaste, little toys, and let him choose a sticker.

When I dropped Evan off at school, he proudly wore his sticker and told all his friends that the dentist tickled and counted his teeth!

Video: Smarty Pants

We have a little smarty pants! Ev can say his ABCs and count to ten in English and Spanish. The alphabet puzzle from Santa was a huge hit to say the least. He is also really good at recognizing letters, and can find a letter when asked to do so.

Here is a video of him singing his ABCs. Unfortunately, the phone is a big distraction and he stops near the end. This was taken last month. I don't think I learned the alphabet until kindergarten, so I am impressed that he knows so much at just over 2.

Video: Catch Air

Our new favorite Saturday hangout is a place called Catch Air. For 5 bucks Ev can run around, jump in a ball pit, go down slides, and climb on things. A 2 year olds dream come true. Here is a quick video of some slide action!

Merry Christmas to All!

December was a busy month filled with Christmas parties, cookie baking, Ev's Christmas program, an ugly sweater party, train ride with Santa on Christmas Eve, and it was all topped off with a wonderful Christmas Day!

Ev was a very good boy this year! Santa brought him a lot of presents including:
  • Basketball hoop
  • Slide
  • Bike
  • Puzzles
  • Saw
  • Fisher Price Barn and Animals
  • Bulldozer
  • Books
  • Clothes
Now where do we put all of this stuff? Thanks to everyone for thinking of Ev and us even though we stayed in Atlanta :-) We are truly blessed.

Here are some of my favorite memories we made this month.

Happy 2nd Bir-day!

Happy bir-day, Evan! You are a sweet little boy and we love you very much.

His two year doctor appointment was a nightmare. He was scared and unfortunately cried the entire time we were there. I left the sheet with his stats on the exam table because we were in a rush to leave. I know that he was 36" tall (90%) and he was 50% in weight (I think around 26-27 lbs).

Likes:
  • Elephants
  • Bambi (aka Bunny, he likes Thumper)
  • Helping mom and dad do anything (cook, rake the leaves, clean)
  • Going to the park
  • Books, puzzles, music
Favorite phrases:
  • Evan do it.
  • Help you. (Means, help me, but doesn't quite get it!)
Dislikes:
  • Getting dressed in the morning
  • Having his diaper changed
  • Clipping his toenails (or even getting remotely close to looking or touching his toes)
Evan now understands the concept of presents. Numerous packages have arrived at the house for his birthday and for Christmas, and he thinks all of the packages are his presents and we have to open them!

His vocabulary has really exploded over the last month. He now is putting together short sentences (mostly commands like, Mommy. Sit. Carpet.!)

Unfortunately, I don't have any pictures from his birthday because my camera battery was dead while we were in Wisconsin :-( We had an Elmo party at the Schloerke's and a cake at YiaYia and Papau's house. Of course there were lots of toys too...a Little Tykes gill, a remote control train, new clothes, puzzles, drill and tool set, and more! Thanks everyone.

I think my favorite LOL moment of his birthday weekend was Evan playing hide and seek with YiaYia. It was Evan's turn to hide. He went into the living room stood in front of the coffee table, put his head down and butt out. I wish I had a picture or video because we couldn't contain the laughter!

Sorry for the scatter-brained post. I don't have the time or energy to keep up with the blog anymore. But I wanted to at least put down a few sentences about Evan's birthday. Here is what I am calling his 2 year picture, even though it was taken two weeks prior :-)
